Chesapeake is to be commended for being open to discuss alternatives in a positive manner (mostly). Julie Wilson has done an excellent job of presenting Chesapeake's point of view and soliciting input from the public to improve their ideas.

Chesapeake has an incredible opportunity with this single situation to show that they support the community and will consider the quality of life in their development. Now it is critical for Chesapeake to follow through with this promising attitude. There is plenty of time to collaborate and explore alternatives within the 9 to 12 months before Chesapeake plans to drill on this site.

A mutually agreeable solution can be found if Chesapeake will have the patience to collaborate with all concerned parties. This process and the result will be a real win-win for the entire community and Chesapeake. It will greatly enhance Chesapeake's reputation as a good corporate citizen.

Comments:

Ellen, thank you for your comments. It was a pleasure meeting you last night.

For those of you not there, Ellen was one of the people who spoke last night, and as an independent oilfield consultant, I assure you, she knows a lot about drilling.

And she's right. There is an opportunity here if Chesapeake will take advantage of it. The community wants to find a solution that saves the trees and allows Chesapeake to drill. I, too, urge Chesapeake to find a mutually agreeable solution.

Thanks again, Ellen. Please come back. Your comments are welcome here any time.

I respect your dissenting opinion, but please link to copyrighted material rather than posting the whole article. That is why I deleted your comment. Please be respectful to Bud Kennedy and the S-T by giving them the ad page views.

Here is the article JoeD wanted to refer to. Here is Joe D's comment: "I think this explains a lot regarding the preparation of those who oppose the petroleum industry. We do not wish to distroy those things that you hold dear."

If you would like to know about the fallacies in Bud's column, I'll refer you here. Bud was flat out wrong.
